Would absolutely love to do it solo again but its now double the cost of what I paid in 2013  :(

GavS, Jun 13 2018 02:16

I rode solo this year, awesome experience but it is getting very pricey unfortunately

Fully agree. You can go on a 7 day all inclusive holiday, including flights for less. Something doesn't add up.

Ramrod, Nov 25 2018 09:28

If anyones selling or knows of someone selling a team entry please let me know. Foolishly I didn't think they would sell out so quickly.

I see solo is 28 500 and a team entry (for 2, I assume) is 24 800. I can see how solo can be the same price as team - but struggling to see the maths behind more expensive?

peetwindhoek, Jan 21 2019 07:35

I think it is R24k per person in the team. R48k for both?

cat-i, Jan 22 2019 08:58

Website says 24k for the team.

From the refund policy:

  • If you are entered as a team and one rider cancels the other may ride as a solo and pay in the difference for solo price

Plentipotential, Jan 22 2019 09:06

How can it be more than double the price if you are a single rider? R 28500.00 per person to sleep in a tent for 8 nights? Must just be me who thinks this is madness because the event is sold out.

I wish I could do this event again soon.

Loved it in 2015

Wannabe, Jan 22 2019 09:22

As I read and understand it:

  • Team of two entry – R24800  (per per person per team)
  • Solo entry – R28500 (obviously solo entry)

Why I say that, we did a team entry in 2016, and that's how it panned out.

Wannabe, Jan 22 2019 09:23

I wish I could do this even again soon.

Loved it in 2015

So would I. If all my schemes work out, 2020 will be my year.  :whistling:

Ramrod, Jan 22 2019 09:42

Just managed to get an entry. Woohoo!

Yeehaa! I've been lucky to be offered a complimentary for J2C after someone withdrew. Super excited for my 1st and hoping to learn a bit more here about what to expect.

Dont give everything on day 1 like i did. It is not timed per se and going flat out will cost you in days to come!

Hamstring, Feb 20 2019 10:19

  • Team of two entry – R24800 SOLD OUT
  • Solo entry – R28500 SOLD OUT

Can not wait!!!

I got a serious case of the morbs / fomo. Must make a plan to do it again in 2020.

Do not go too hard the first two days through the Freestate, the real nice riding only start on day Three on wards. You will find you gets stronger as the days goes on, and on day 9 you will be slightly depressed, because you want more of the awesome riding.

Wannabe:

This was your exact post to me last year when I entered my 1st one and asked what to expect, and you were NOT wrong. Amazing experience.

Serious FOMO at the moment so 2020 here I come.

To those that are riding, this is the 10th Edition so I am sure it will be a little bit more special.

Enjoy.

Spinnekop, Feb 20 2019 12:50

I did the very first one.  How it has grown!!
Amazing event.

JeremyCPT, Feb 20 2019 01:02

What an awesome event.

Loved it in 2017 and doing it again this year.

I think the pricing is fair. Not cheap but fair.

They have a lot of logistics to handle with the point to point nature of the event unlike a lot of the other stage races that have multiple nights in the same camp.

Best food and vibe in any of the multi day races I've done.

Very good combination between a hard enough route but still able to have a jol without killing yourself.

9 weeks to go, lots more training to be done.

Dreaming of :Great wall my China, Sollys, Umko, Harrisons, Rock & Roll, Gumtree, etc etc

Wannabe, Feb 20 2019 01:27

Great Wall my China was one of my highlights, together with the Umko Drop.

The sight of the long line of riders ascending "The Wall" and then the incredible views over the valley below when you get to the top, was amazing. And then also to be able to ride on top of the mountain, with cliffs mere feet away from you, still gives me goosebumps.

Lighthouse, Feb 20 2019 01:57

Not to forget about the Spionkop ascent and descent.....that drop down Spionkop into Emseni remains my favorite piece of track.

Up was a different story...

cat-i, Apr 22 2019 11:21

Not long now ...

bullet77, Apr 22 2019 12:02

Excited beyond words for my 1st. Our bikes are in JoBerg already.
