DieselnDust, May 03 2019 08:26

so this place is next to Fairview.....

Me thinks its going to have gradient from hell.

long range forecast shows 21 degree start for the SV, VM and Elites, No rain the wek prior to the event so you okes should have a lekker dry warm spin up and down the dale

milky4130, May 12 2019 07:29

I went and rode the Xco course today. Most of it is marked out so you could probably pull in anytime this week & ride it. I suggest to park at Spice Route and follow the Orange & Red arrows to get you the Xco loop.

It’s a toughie, today probably not the best day to go ride it as I’m still fatigued from yesterday’s Gravel Travel race. But it was hard and no place to recover 😢
The soil is dry and is going to break up further, after plenty of folk descend on it for race practice and will be sandy in many places which will make it more difficult, especially on those many 140degress turns.

no gap jumps but plenty of small natural rock features, small drops, that you need to tackle at 90 degrees.

milky4130, May 14 2019 04:30

also the event starts 45mins later than the previous rounds meaning you can practice the course up until 8:45am

I managed to get a lap in yesterday. The course is really a lot of fun! Can't wait to race on Saturday.

Also just managed to squeak in one quick lap, and it it seems a "fun" one yes, but think it will be a different story red lining it all the way though, as will be the case tomorrow.

Forgot my device at home so not sure of the distance and elevation, but did feel the climbing in the start of the lap, and at the end, the lap felts quite long vs other races, but not sure if this is in fact the case.

Lots of very tight corners and switchbacks, so need to make sure I keep the tummy tucked in all the way.....

milky4130, May 18 2019 06:08

Was that fun or was that fun. One of the best designed courses using most of the natural elements available.

We’ll done to Donovan for riding a flawless 4 races and in the process taking the Sub Vets title at WP & WC Champs Level. Which left Michael Potton and myself for the ding dong battle of 2nd place all season. Each of us picking up 2x2nd’s and 2x3rd’s each. And then for everyone else that lined up that didn’t quite make the podium, Kudos to you guys!!

milky4130, May 18 2019 06:09

Last but not least, all the organizers, the volunteers, the host venues, the sponsors & every marshal at every race. Thanks Guys

Nice one guys! How do they decide on the series second place if you both had matching results? Sudden death wheelie competition?
