On hand to present the prize and take some photos of our lucky winner was Gary Perkin who has been heavily involved with the fundraiser drive from the beginning.
Gary spent some time with Michele discussing the features of the Joplin C and offering some tips before she got to take it out for a short ride. As a regular on Tokai’s trails, a clearly delighted Michele says that, “It feels like I have jumped from an Uno to a Porsche!” and having chosen the Joplin, means ride qualities will be similar to that of the praised Tall Boy constantly raking in rave reviews from owners around the world.
Michele, we wish you many happy miles on your new bike and agree your final colour choice is just perfect!
Tokai has for a long time held a special place for riders of Cape Town. Being centrally located in the internationally acclaimed Table Mountain National Park, which itself is centrally placed within this city, it offers a convenient source for technical and flowing singletrack set against the backdrop of the Constantiaberg mountain steeped in history.
TokaiMTB would like to thank the various people and groups; Gary Perkin, Santa Cruz Bikes, Andre at Rush Sports, Bike Hub, and last but not least, everyone who donated to the trails. The final amount raised meant that we brought in donations roughly double that of the bike’s value and if reports about the trails so far are anything to go by, it has been money very well spent.
Follow TokaiMTB on Twitter and Facebook for more exciting announcements and further updates on our progress.

..and then was potentially stuck with it for 30 days! haha
I must say that despite it taking as long as it did, and there are a few valid reasons why, when the bike was unwrapped it was like she won it the day before.
New bikes when received for free are a 1000% shinier than store bought, even matt ones.
