SRAM tackle bottom bracket standards with DUB

Forward thinking and backwards compatible SRAM DUB BB/Crank technology is the workhorse without restraint. Designed for the most discerning pros. And riders who set it and neglect it. DUB is compatible with all major bottom bracket standards. Offering better sealing than ever before, without having to make compromises to fit all frames. Yet it opens the door for a new crank spindle for the world’s all-time lightest crankset. It’s a new approach that embraces the old. And it’s about time.

DUB Cranksets

XX1 Eagle DUB SL Crankset

True competitors are always looking for a performance advantage — a relentless pursuit of equipment that is lighter, stiffer, stronger and more durable. To create the best drivetrain possible, we re-examined and re-engineered our crankset design. Our all-new XX1 Eagle CARBON TUNED crankset is our lightest, stiffest and strongest to date. SRAM DUB technology enhances this by simplifying the relationship of the spindle to the bottom bracket, and redefining the measure of durability. DUB-powered cranksets mean simplicity, compatibility and durability.

Sram BBs are like double the price of Shimano BBs :-(

Plus, you will also need to buy a new crank as the spindle size is different...

Kalahari Vegmot, Jan 16 2018 05:50

Wow. A whole article to say that spam is now making its spindle size somewhere between 24 and 30mm.

Abd I thought the eagle marketing was bad.

RudolphP, Jan 16 2018 06:37

And current power meters like stages will not be compatible

Shebeen, Jan 16 2018 07:13

Bontrager's axiom holds true for this one:

Our all-new XX1 Eagle CARBON TUNED crankset is our lightest, stiffest and strongest to date.

28.99mm to be exact...

It is really cool to future proof your components as this will fit any frame. So if you move between a gxp and bb30 frame you dont have to get an entire new drivetrain as well.

Kinda like Shimano?

Check out the "stoosh" at 2:51, that is one serious handle bar ... must be a roadie ..

stefmeister, Jan 17 2018 08:00

Bet these will come standard on new bikes (come 2019 release), and the new buyer will be forced to buy another shitty sram bb 3 months later. It's just another way to create extra sales by excluding the aftermarket manufacturers for a few months. Of course, this will create so much anxiety for those who swallow this marketing bs.

On the bright side, it took them only 5+ years to realize that the nylon cups on the pf30/bb30 system were utter **** and replaced with metal/alloy ones.

I thought the article and video had a bit of an April 1st kinda vibe (especially with all the silly moustaches)

Pinkbike and Bikerumor almost collapsed under all the comments
