Hansgrohe signs on as Absa Cape Epic Headline Sponsor

Since 2012 Hansgrohe has been keeping it clean at the Absa Cape Epic: providing and managing a world class temporary shower service for riders after a long day in the saddle.

A global player and local leader in bathroom and kitchen products is stepping up the relationship with the Untamed African Mountain Bike Race: Hansgrohe will be sponsoring the Women’s Category and becoming a headline partner to the race.

“This is great news: the Women’s Category has been growing strongly over the years,”said Absa Cape Epic CEO Lynn Naude. “Hansgrohe’s extension of its relationship will enable us to keep a special focus on our women riders.”

Since 2014 the Absa Cape Epic has been giving equal prize money to the elite women racers and this has significantly lifted the profile of their category.

Besides sponsoring the women’s category, Hansgrohe will continue to provide the showers at each Race Village. They have successfully provided riders with those creature comforts in portable form for each race village. Despite their dusty faces and the grim war stories they share, there is a festive air in the marquee, which has private cubicles where riders relax while waiting for their turn to shower. A clear environmental message is attached to the Hansgrohe Shower Zone experience with each shower cubicle fitted with a Hansgrohe showerhead. Cutting edge low-flow technology aerates the water and offers a powerful and refreshing shower, yet saves up to 60% of precious water.

Naude ads “South Africa is a water stressed country with water resources under tremendous pressure. It is great to be able to offer a service that uses far less water than conventional systems.”
