Crazy prices for cycling gear

Paulst12's Photo Paulst12 17 Jul 2017

Someone asked on a advert when cycling shoes would break the R10k mark... well i know thats long gone with the Mavic shoes at €1,000, so i was just wondering what other crazy prices people are paying for cycling gear, ie, what the most buck for your bling?

If you want to go bos, you go get yourself a set of these puppies.

They'll only set you off a measly R99,380.  Not bad.

I did indeed ask about R10k+ shoes, and seems it's still the exception.
That said, we appear to be moving quickly in the direction of it possibly being the norm.
Crazy what some things cost, but I suppose true of most sports.

Bloody hell, does it make you coffee after a long ride and massage your legs?

and I battle to justify R1500 for new MTB shoes or R1700 for Reebok Nanos.

What gets me is not necessarily the price of the most expensive stuff out there (there's always something really expensive in any industry), but more the number of people with the second and third most expensive bits of kit. For instance how many folks you see with sworks shoes (or equivalent), or riding R80k+ bikes, or with R25k wheel sets etc.
